What is the Best Advice that You Have Ever Received?

Hi, it’s been a minute, and I apologize for that, but I’ve made a commitment to post more frequently, and now it’s officially in writing.  My last blog, The Best Advice is Usually One that Comes from You, caused me to think more about the best advice that I have ever received.  I have received some gems and some duds!  Some was sound and some was, “Are you really telling me this?”  But here is my  first list of the best advice that I have ever received (not in any particular order of importance):

1. Do to others as you  what you would have them do to you aka The Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12, NIV). – Jesus Christ
2. What matters most is how you see yourself.
3. Pay your bills first, pay yourself second!  Keep good credit, because your reputation and it go hand in hand.- My Mother
4. You  control your thoughts, not the other way around.
5. Sometimes you have to stop thinking so much and go where your heart takes you.
6. Love is not supposed to hurt.
7. When choosing a mate,  make sure they respect you, have a job, and is as smart, if not smarter than you are!. – My Mother
8. Always keep enough money to get home if you are stranded. – My Mother
9. What you find in your mind is what you put there. Put good things in there.
10. Trust yourself, think for yourself, act for yourself, speak for yourself. Imitation is suicide. – Marva Collins
11. Dare to be yourself. – Andre Gide
